The Bluffs of Northern Michigan

Nestled in northwest Michigan lies one of the top golf destinations in the State: Arcadia Bluffs. The property offers two exceptional courses: The Bluffs Course and the South Course.

The Bluffs Course is a championship course that offers stunning views of Lake Michigan. Designed by Rick Smith and Warren Henderson, this course has been ranked among the best public courses in the country. It features 18 holes that stretch over 7,300 yards, with challenging greens and wide fairways that offer golfers plenty of opportunities to showcase their skills. The course is located on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, providing breathtaking views of the water throughout the round. Almost every hole has a view of the pristine lake.

A short distance away is The South Course. The course is inland and away from the lake, but boy does this place pack a punch. It was designed by Dana Fry and Dr. Michael Hurdzan and features 18 holes that stretch over 6,900 yards. This course is characterized by narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and undulating greens that require precision and strategy to navigate. Many of the greens here are known for their square shape and are lightning fast.

Arcadia Bluffs offers a range of accommodation options to suit every preference and budget. The Lodge at Arcadia Bluffs is a premier accommodation option, featuring 15 luxurious rooms and suites, a restaurant, a bar, and a pro shop. Each room is beautifully appointed with modern amenities, and offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. There is also the Bluffs Lodge, a few steps away from the main lodge. This lodge offers 21 additional rooms onsite with two queen beds in each.

For those seeking a more private experience, Arcadia Bluffs also offers a number of cottages that are located on the golf course. These cottages offer a more private setting, and are perfect for groups or families. The Cottages have four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a common space with a fireplace, flat screen TV, kitchenette, and outdoor patio. The cottages either come with 4 king beds or 8 twin XL beds making this the perfect option for groups of 4-8. Not to mention, the cottages have a private putting green out front. Bring a beer and roll a few putts at sunset.

So you’re in? Well, you’re probably wondering how to get here. One of the closest options to Arcadia Bluffs is the Manistee County-Blacker Airport, which is located approximately 20 minutes away. The airport offers daily flights to and from Chicago, making it easily accessible for visitors from around the country. Another option is to fly into Traverse City, which is approximately an hour drive.

It’s important to note the weather in northern Michigan can vary greatly depending on the season. During the summer months, temperatures can range from the mid-60s to the mid-80s, with occasional thunderstorms. In the fall, temperatures cool down, and the leaves begin to change, making it a beautiful time to visit. If you’re planning a trip, June through September is probably your best bet.

Outside of golf, there are a lot of additional activities including hiking, biking, fishing, and boating. The nearby Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a popular attraction, offering miles of pristine beaches, dunes, and forests to explore. Most of your meals will be in the clubhouse, as there are not many towns in the area. Reserve your tables outside and watch the sun fall into the lake at dinner.
